The Benefits of Working Out With a Personal Trainer
Personal trainers aren’t just for celebrities anymore! The role of a personal trainer is to design and implement a personal fitness program that best addresses your personal goals. A trainer should be certified with a professional organization, highly motivated and a role model. In other words, he or she should look the part. If your trainer does not appear healthy, that is one sign you’re not working with a good trainer.
A common mistake most people make on their own is doing exercises incorrectly, which is where a personal trainer can be extremely helpful. Often when the same exercises are done correctly, the workout is a lot harder! However, a personal trainer is there to push you and in doing so, creates a much more efficient workout. People also tend to do the same exercises over and over again, which can halt progress. A trainer should be knowledgeable about different exercises, which will expose your body to different stresses, preventing a plateau.
Another benefit of personal training is scheduled workouts. Scheduling life around your workouts, rather than the other way around may help you stay consistent with an exercise regimen. You’re also less likely to cancel if you’re paying for each workout. Check with your trainer about their cancelation policies, as some gyms and trainers may not offer refunds for cancelled sessions within a certain time frame or at all.
Personal training can be surprisingly affordable. Depending on how many days a week you train and what part of the country you live in, expect to pay anywhere from $25 to $100 an hour. Some gyms allow two or more people to train at once, which allows people to split the cost. The most important thing to remember is that your health is probably the best investment you can make and perhaps money spent on one or more bad habits could be going towards a better one, like workouts with a personal trainer.
